MOUNTAINS ARE NOT THE RIGHT PLACE FOR
INDUSTRIAL WIND TURBINES.
Power companies and speculators are trying to industrialize
our mountains and ridgetops. If they are successful,
Bedford County will be dramatically changed. When wind
turbines are installed, trees have to be cut down and
mountaintops bulldozed to create service roads and large
flat construction sites. Approximately three acres of forest
and wildlife habitat will be sacrificed for each turbine. Once
installed, these monsters will dominate the landscape while
altering scenic vistas and wildlife habitat forever.

Support Senator Robert Casey (D-PA) in his efforts to repeal section 1221 of the
Energy Policy Act of 2005.  This policy will give utility companies to ability to go
"back-door" for federal authority to override state decisions on the siting of
transmission lines.  Senator Casey now has an online petition on his website at

New Request for Hearings
Congressional Oversight Hearings
The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee has indicated it plans to hold an
oversight hearing on the DOE's implementation of the transmission corridor program, which
permits the federal government to overrule state concerns in siting transmission lines in
certain circumstances. The hearings are being prompted by a bipartisan coalition of 14
senators who say DOE has exceeded its authority in establishing high-priority transmission
areas and has infringed on state rights.

U.S. Senator Robert Casey (D-PA) along with thirteen other U.S. senators urged the Energy &
Natural Resources Committee to hold hearings regarding the NIETC.
